We use different kinds of medicaments on a daily basis. Nevertheless, do we really think about how precisely those are manufactured, which rules need to be fulfilled in order to have a certain tablet on the market? Still, should we be bothered about it anyway? It seems like in the vast majority of cases, the answer is fairly apparent – we do not have to think about such things.
However, there are few subject areas that appear to be quite intriguing.
One of such things is something called a combination product. What’s that someone can ask? The truth be told, there are few definitions, but all of them can be boiled down the essentials. A combination product is a thing where below words range overlaps: medicine, device, biologic. So broadly speaking, we could say that it is a product composed of any combo of a device and drug, or accessory and biological part etc. However, Nonetheless, we could say also that two isolated products packaged collectively in a single set composed of discussed earlier drug, device and biologic part.
The most clear examples that springs to our mind are an insulin injector device or transdermal patches. The great majority of such combined products used together with drugs play an extremely important role in diabetic’s lives. Due to continuously increasing incidents of diabetic, we can observe a growing need for this kind of combo products.
Different manufacturers are trying to use a medical device contract to be able to improve and ease the production process. It’s all for the market demands since it seems that different types of combination products are going to be needed in the future as well.
