At that time I was just so excited with the news that I got the intern offer, that I didn’t think to ask about important details. At that time it was ok for me to know the department where I was going to intern in. Now I already know that such approach was quite a huge mistake. Sadly, I think that that lesson was actually the only useful lesson I learnt from this entire experience.
Before I was sure that during any internship I would learn that type of knowledge as well as skills that are transferable also to any other similar position. Unluckily, while conducting that internship I was mostly responsible for these tasks that nobody else was interested to conduct. I know that somebody always has to do those stuff , but at the same time I wanna learn something new at while doing my intrnship.
Unluckily, I didn’t. To be honest I learnt much about New York city and its neighborhood as I was helping other employees conducting the most boring stuff which they did’t want to do. Ironically, I learnt where to do cheap custom printing nyc or where to find best coffee in the town. But I don’t think that this is the type of knowledge I should gain from the internship.
Second, they didn’t pay me anything. I am aware that I was not an employee so I don’t have any precious experience they can need, but I was anyway doing some activities they would pay for their workers to do. In consequence, I really believe that they should reimburse me at least small amount of money. Only to confirm that they appreciated my commitment.
